Seeking students to co-lead “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice” course sections

Apply to be a “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice” course section leader!

Course section student leaders will be paired with a UW staff member to co-facilitate a small group of 20-40 undergraduate students enrolled in the new “Learning Leadership Theory and Practice” GEN ST 391/BA 490 large lecture course taught by Professor Christina Fong. This 2-credit course is designed to (1) increase students’ knowledge of leadership theory and practice to (2) develop students’ leadership potential. Leadership techniques and principles will be explored using readings, cases, lectures and large group discussions. Section leaders will facilitate small ‘leadership lab’ sessions, which will incorporate experiential exercises, self-reflection and leadership conversations to increase students’ leadership experience base.

We invite staff, faculty, students and alumni to submit program proposals for the Husky Spring Training Leadership Conference. This annual event brings together UW students interested in developing their skills and engaging in conversation centered around leadership. Based on our belief that one’s capacity to lead grows out of experience, practice and reflection, this conference gives students the opportunity to build and hone the leadership skills they need to make a difference in whatever context speaks to them.
